What is the NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT?

A:

The NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT is the largest and most prestigious annual gathering of the Latino media field nationwide. This event is organized as a creative, business event for Latino media makers and those interested in Latino talent and content. It is a lively and inspiring weekend of professional development and networking opportunities.

Why should I attend the NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT?

A:

The NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT is a unique opportunity to network with fellow media makers, meet industry executives, and participate in a weekend of panels, keynote lunches, workshops, plenaries and the Gala Awards dinner.  Running concurrent to the conference is the Latino Media Market (LMM), a NALIP Signature Program, designed to bring funders, studio executives, distributors, agents, and other decision makers together with NALIP members and their projects. Media makers may apply for the LMM; 24 projects are selected each year to participate.

How much does the NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT cost?

A:

The cost depends on your NALIP membership status and when you register. If you’re a member, the Early Bird rate is the most economical.

When is the NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT?

A:

The NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT begins on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 7:30 pm with a selected screening at the AMC Universal Citywalk Cinemas and ends on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at noon with the conference Town Hall meeting.

I’ve purchased my registration, so when should I arrive?

A:

The conference begins at 2pm on Thursday, June 5, 2014. PLEASE BE AWARE! You must check in at the registration office and receive your badge. A NALIP conference badge is required to attend all events at the NALIP 2014 Media Summit.

Where will the national conference take place?

A:

The NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT will take place at the Sheraton Universal hotel in Universal City, CA. The hotel address is 333 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, CA 91608.

Where do I go once I get to the conference hotel?

A:

When you arrive, follow the signs to the NALIP check-in office to receive your badge and registration bag. After you have your badge, you’re free to attend all workshops, panels, and events.

Does the hotel have parking?

A:

Yes, parking is available at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. The fee is $10.00/day and $9.00/overnight.

Is this event open to all ethnicities?

A:

Yes, the NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT is open to all ethnicities. You don’t have to be Latino! Many of our speakers and some of our award winners are not Latino. And English will be spoken throughout the entire event.

Can I bring a friend, family member, etc. to the conference?

A:

Yes, just make sure they also pay a registration fee and check-in to receive their badge.

Are meals provided during the conference?

A:

There is a Friday and Saturday Keynote Lunch for all registered conference attendees. For an additional $75, conference attendees may purchase a ticket to the Saturday night Gala Dinner and Awards. Otherwise, attendees are welcome to enjoy the Sheraton Hotel’s restaurant as well as the other restaurants throughout the Universal Studios Theme Park and CityWalk.

Does NALIP provide financial assistance to attend the conference?

A:

Yes, NALIP has available two types of competitions open to current NALIP members. Recipients are responsible for their own travel arrangements. For more information, visit the “Competitions” page here.

What is the Saturday night Gala Dinner and Awards?

A:

The Saturday night Gala Dinner and Awards is when NALIP presents its annual Achievement and Estela Awards, which celebrate outstanding and historic achievements in the Latino media field. Past Achievement Award winners include Danny Trejo, Salma Hayek, Moctezuma Esparza, Edward James Olmos, Kenny Ortega, Rita Moreno and Lupe Ontiveros. Past Estela Award winners include Rodrigo Garcia, Natalia Almada, Nicolas Entel and Peter Bratt.

How much does the Gala cost?

A:

For conference attendees with a weekend registration, the Gala ticket is an additional $75 (when purchased during registration). For those without a weekend registration, a Gala ticket can be purchased for $250 and will be the only event you may attend.

What is the dress code for the Gala?

A:

It’s a Gala Awards Dinner, dress as beautiful and elegant as you want!
